For the Health Sciences eBook collections on ScienceDirect, I wanted to give our librarian customers a way to see how far their budget dollars would go.
The eBook Optimizer site was built as a way to showcase our collections and give prospects an interactive way to view our catalog.
The Optimizer asks for the subjects that they would be interested in and the approximate budget amount they have to spend. From there, it highlights key titles they might be interested in before giving a final report of the number of titles they could purchase for their institution with their available budget.
Behind the scenes, we would receive a report with the prospect's interests, budget total, and the suggestions from the optimizer. It made it simple for the sales reps to follow up with these leads and start a conversation about our collections.
The concept grabbed the attention of other divisions of Elsevier which adopted the optimizer format as well.
