Created in Adobe Photoshop. When I first began working for Cleveland Chiropractic College, the alumni magazine was done in the typical "black and one-color" style usually featuring a collage of white-bordered photos that looked like they were taken with a Polaroid camera. One of the first things I was able to do was convince the powers-that-be to start using four-color process on the covers. Although the photo collage was still favored, I was able to move away from the Polaroid look and update the style a bit.

Created in Adobe Photoshop. The Clevelander came out three times per year in concurrence with the school's trimester breaks. During each trimester I typically worked on two issues at a time, one for the Kansas City campus and one for the Los Angeles campus. To differentiate between the two, we typically incorporated blue for KC and purple for LA.

Created in Adobe Photoshop. Soon we moved away from the collage covers completely, and began to feature photos that we believed gave the magazine a more personal feel. For this particular cover I was the photographer as well, and I arranged for the student to meet me in the afternoon after his classes were finished. When he showed up, he had a very dark five-o'clock shadow that did not match the "feel" we wished to convey. So, I gave him a "Photoshop shave".
