Grass Roots
For a short time in Pittsburgh and surrounding neighborhoods, I was able to live out a passion for creating community art spaces and temporary autonomous zones, inspired by the work of Hakim Bey. Some of these projects were so temporary that they could not, by nature, be documented--others received grants and support from organizations. At that time, abandoned and unused spaces were readily available. We turned everything from traffic triangles to abandoned banks into spaces for the community to gather and share creative expression without restrictions or boundaries.
