Stair Hopper

A project I had worked on during my final year. The stair hopper is a solution to a problem of locomotion and logistics that will only grow in magnitude with time. As living spaces become scarce and buildings rise higher, the structure of stairs combined with the dynamics of gravity will make simple tasks of mobility difficult. I decided to develop a mechanism that does not require any electronics to move on stairs, making the task of lifting a load over a staircase, simple. I chose to work on a
stretcher as existing stretchers cannot negotiate or be maneuvered on stairs. My solution would help people particularly in developing countries where elevators are uncommon. The project also aimed at using simple, inexpensive parts, easily available in the market so that the stair hopper can be replicated and improved upon anywhere, any time.
