Portrait Photography in a Studio Set up. This picture was taken in 2012 with just a nikon d3000, an entry level camera., but in a huge studio with a few soft boxes to light the subject., the camera model has become insignificant. We usually use a nikon d300, probably theres an event during this day thats why all the high end cameras are out. On the less technical matter this young lady is all set and ready to go to her Junior-Senior nights, but not after visiting us to take her portraits, its not often to spend the night with a nice hair, make up and a gown., As her moher explain, it had cost them to have it done., why not take a picture to make it all worth it. During the days before facebook and smartphone camera have their way., this is the perfect way to save a memory and tell your friends about it. .
The Studio that I worked with has been doing portraits photography for decades, that it has become a tradition to some family to take their sons and daughter for a portrait session specially during their birthday till they reach seven years old.
A nice contrast of bright color that stand out on a dark as black background. This was taken with a nikon 300, in a dark blue background same as wiht the young lady above, but now I position the subject with some distance with the backround and avoid my main light and my fill to affect the background., making it almost black.
Well you cannot force a subject to pose the way you want it to be all the time,, so when it happens you need to be quick in the trigger.., It's a sure buy when you caught their child smiling or laughing., especially for the Moms, Get as much shots as possible then you try again to pose the child. If he pose your in luck if he cries, you know you already they already have something to purchase. The above images are captured in the same studio and with the same dark blue backdrop. Its amazing how light can manipulate not only our subjects as well as our background in a well controlled environment.
