CHAIRS Exhibition 2011

A project from the Furniture Design module in the Diploma in Interior Design course, students are put into five groups and are tasked to design two chairs, each within 1m square, with their own proposed concept. They are only allowed to use discarded wood materials, mainly chipboards and MDF boards, in their prototype. Students are not allowed to paint, varnish or shellac the wood surface, leaving only the form and design to fully convey their ideas. The chairs must not be multi-functional; hence encouraging a heavily conceptual exploration of seating ideas. Three lecturers supply the remaining two designs.
