Tri-Fold is a folding bicycle helmet that attempts to alleviate concussions in low to moderate speed impacts via an inflatable protective liner; the nature of which also contributes to the helmet’s collapsibility. The liner features a presta valve at the rear that enables the user to inflate it with a portable bicycle pump to the appropriate pressure, which is indicated by an integrated pressure gauge. To deflate, simply press the valve release that is within the presta valve.
The initial intention with Tri-Fold was to encourage more cyclists, especially commuters, to start wearing a helmet, thus leading to fewer cycling related injuries and fatalities. However, Tri-Fold is just as suitable to the cyclist that already chooses to wear a helmet, providing them with a more portable and more effective option.
