Mercedes SLS with Parallel Architecture
A Mercedes SLS modified with Parallel Architecture, improving its rear cargo capacity, aerodynamics and driver´s visibility, but maintaining the same dynamic mid-front engine layout of the original one and therefore its dynamics. Engine would have to be replaced by an inline unit, so it can be positioned in Parallel with the driver´s legs.
Parallel Architecture is defined by the placement of the engine in parallel with the driver's legs, below the central dashboard area. In order to maintain the minimum width, the inline engine must be installed longitudinally in the vehicle, with all the engine auxiliaries mounted in series relative to the engine.
The base of the windshield is moved forward, so that the dashboard has sufficient length to allow access to the top of the engine, in order to perform maintenance operations on the cylinder heads area, by opening an access chamber on the top of the central dashboard.
