IXUS with Parallel Architecture at the Local Motors UALV contest
The IXUS, a project for the UALV contest of Local Motors, designed with Parallel Architecture: http://lnkd.in/bUaF_Gy . Design by José Fco. Rosales http://lnkd.in/bJ2wTDV.
Parallel Architecture is defined because the engine is placed inside the central dashboard, in Parallel with the driver´s legs. In order to fit into this narrow space, the engine has to be inline, placed longitudinally in the car. In the top central dashboard, there is an access to the cylinder heads area when needed, but all typical maintenance work in the engine is done from the bonnet, as in normal cars. With the UALV IXUS, it allows to maximize the cargo capacity of the car, while keeping the dynamics of an sport car, thanks to its mid-centre engine layout.
