Electric super-light city car
Ricardo required a design for a light weight electric city car for the year 2025. Since the theme for the car was centred on light weight construction, the inspiration came from air-crafts. The concept was to make an aircraft for the roads.
The inspiration for the design turned over to Cirrus SR22, a civil utility aircraft. It’s a single-engine five-seat, composite aircraft. It has been the world’s best-selling in its class for several years. The major design cues were the fixed (non-retractable) landing gear that covered the wheels. Next was the curvaceous body which aided to the aerodynamic efficiency. And the wrap around front windshield.
