On the 21st October the RIBA will launch a new headquarters in Dubai, to represent architecture in the Gulf. Alongside this new chapter the RIBA have organised the Urban Exchange: The Souk Student Competition which aims to celebrate the work demonstrated by students across the Gulf with a focus of urban revitalisation.
In recent historical events, relationships have become strained between the East and the West, but as desingers we must look beyond what is put in front of us by the western media, and re-connect and discover the ancient lines of cross-cultural exchanges, to change perceptions and enrich our communities.
