Automatic Window Cleaner
Our team designed the power transmission systems for a rooftop gantry unit for an automatic window washing system. Design requirements included maximum speed and loading conditions; the scope of our design included motor selection, transmission design, spool design, and design of all mountings, in addition to consideration for surface finishes and treatments.
Our design features a lifting motor that powers two winch spools via a layshaft, as well as a smaller motor to power horizontal motion along a set of rails.
This project was completed as a course assignment for the University of Auckland's Mechanical Engineering 235: Design & Manufacture 1.
