The Gold Cup tournament was heavily promoted on Univision's web portal. In this picture you will the the prominent exposure on the stage and you will also see the cobranded 300x250 banner promoting GMC's sweepstakes and driving traffic to the custom site.
Every other day, our editorial team would create a recap of the game and a prominent call to action to the sweepstakes program.
This was the custom site developed for GMC. The whole premise of the promotion created for them was to showcase the "professional" side of Univision's sports fans by challenging them to make a play call better than the Pro's. A sweepstakes allowed all Univision's users to register for a chance to win a jersey and a chance to meet the sportscasters one-on-one. During the tournament a series of plays were highlighted on the microsite which also had fresh content via a widget; an to request GMC information and an entry point to buy tickets to the matches. The numbers were outstanding: 159K total pageviews ; 105K unique users; 52K page views to all videos (5K avg); 1,055 comments per play call; 1,756 requested GMC collateral; 3,013 sweepstakes entries.
From the first game, users truly engaged in the experience. Through out the tournament, people really engaged with each of the play calls. Every play average upward of a thousand comments.
Each play call had a play call made by our professionals. You had the chance to review the play and then engage in the conversation. It was great to see hundreds and hundreds of comments pour in every time we would update the site. Overall a great user experience with great performance results.
After the program had ended, the winner of the sweepstakes and his guest were flown to Miami where they had a private tour of Univision's studios.
The winner had one-on-one mentoring from Univision's most renowned sportscasters. Here, you see him talking to Jesus Bracamontes also known as "Profe" Bracamontes. El Profe is a former General Manager of the Mexican National Soccer Team. He has 10 years of color commentary and has participated as a sportscaster in 3 World Cups.
Pablo Ramirez, "la Torre de Jalisco" is also a well known sposrtscaster and Univision's professional. He's a former player on a Mexican pro team and has 22 years behind the mic on play-by-play . Here, he was also narrating and giving the winners some pointers on how to do the play.
After the couching and mentoring from Univision's Pros, it was his time to shine.
Great program and experience from GMC and the Professionals at Univision!
