Optima Weight Machines - Introduced in 2009. This is a defeatured value line designed to sit alongside the Signature weight line. It was designed mimimize tower configurations and be quasi modular. The machine components fit in flat boxes in containers. Go to following link for more information. http://us.commercial.lifefitness.com/content.cfm/optima
Optima Weight Machines - The line was to be as simple as possible. The tower and machine side were all designed with standard metric tubes. Injection molded parts were mimimized and plastc extrusion use maximized. The vendors did not have laser tube cutters so the part intersections had to be simple. Notice that original leg extension design had a cantilevered lift arm. This design was revised with an arm that is center supported. This was easier to produce and more reliable.
Optima Weight Machines - If IKEA built a weight line how would it be designed? This line is simple, defeatured, clean and affordable. As I stated before, container cube use was maximized by having box cube minimized. Care was taken to assure easy assembly, hand and tool clearance.
Optima Weight Machines - Optima color studies. Played with frame and upholstery colors. I personally gravitated to Champagne powder coat and dark tan "leather" upholstery. Lifefitness already has equity in a rich silver flake powder coat and that was chosen. Since this was coming from overseas upholstery choices were nil. It was made in black.
Refined tower design with assembly details. Extruding the translucent shroud with cosmetic flaws was ruled out. The covers were to be injection molded. Notice main upright tubes are circular. No exotic tube profiles. It had to be simple.
