Large Industrial Blower

Project entailed the design and prototyping of a large, industrial blower. Customer had specific high-heat needs as well as the ability to "roll" the base away from the housing creating an easy-to-maintain design. A custom backward incline impeller was designed for optimum efficiency at low pressure requirements. The impeller was prototyped and tested in-house with over 20 variations created to reach the desired performance characteristics. This design was later offered to other customers serving a need for light-industrial-duty impellers featuring a surprising low cost-to-efficiency ratio. The design also includes a complex sq-to-rd transition with tilted planes of which could not be flattened in PTC Creo. A custom made Pro/Program featured the ability to export all bend angles for the brake press operator. This was accomplished by calculating the equations for each plane of each surface, and then by calculating the angles between each planes' neighboring normal-projection.
