The excavators are used in various operations like digging of earth, lifting and moving heavy loads. We are considering a particular operation of moving scrapped cars which will be pushed from one defined point to another in a straight line on the ground during stacking operation in the junkyard. The motion of the excavator arm in this process is planar with only rotations about the Z axis.
The goal of the project is to determine the stresses generated in the stick and to verify whether the design is safe. For this, we will perform the forward dynamics to calculate the time history of the system during the pushing operation. Then, inverse dynamics will be performed on the stick to determine the internal forces generated. These forces obtained will then be used to perform a Finite Element Analysis in SolidWorks/ANSYS.
