Conceptual Hybrid Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

A typical Vertical Axis Wind Turbine or ‘VAWT’ can be used for producing electricity
for fulfilling required energy demands. I intend to improve upon the existing Giro-mill VAWT blade design by modifying the usual teardrop shape of the blade and turning it into a concave like teardrop shape blade. The concave shape can be seen in the Savonius VAWT blade.

My concept was to combine the above two blade profiles and create a sophisticated
design. This design will give the high torque benefits of concave profile and efficient operation of the teardrop profile. As Savonius VAWT can’t run faster than the existing winds, this design modification would surely solve this hindrance.
