6DOF Headtracker
Objective: Build a motion capture apparatus capable of tracking head movements in all 6 degrees of freedom for use in PC games.
Cost: $27 (Budget: $25)
Solution: A simple circuit of LEDs are embedded in a baseball cap. Using a webcam and open source software, the camera's exposure is reduced to only detect three point sources. Configuring some settings to match my circuit's geometry, the software translates the 3-point motion of the LEDs into 6-DOF motion readable by simulator games such as military and flight simulators.
