A tool widely used in the print industry to convert one type of print format into another (e.g. convert PDF into XML) requires the preparation of a text command file with a number of parameters to specify the format of the input and output printstreams.

This is very time consuming, error prone and requires the user to possess an in-depth knowledge of the printstream. Literally hundreds of parameters are available, each with its own set of possible values.

What was required was a tool which would provide guidance and assistance, and an automated way to select job parameters.
