Industrial design lead for a range of wireless devices for home and business use as part of NEC’s new range of femtocells hubs. Tasks included user, market and trend research, concept generation, product design, usability and user experience concept, design for sustainability, prototyping and manufacturing support. The final results were present on a custom-design exhibition stand and the Small Cells World Summit in London in June 2012. Global roll-out followed in July. Sustainability: The housing features and innovative and distinct geometry that improves cooling and consequently operating power consumption. The case is made from recycled plastic.
