The park map allowed players to unlock new areas of their park over time. Each area could have one theme applied to it, which in turn unlocked various unique rides, concessions, and decorations for the player, as well as changing the background music for that area. The happiness level of each region is displayed, allowing players to understand which areas of the park are in most need of their attention.
Various callouts are used to inform players of the status of their park, from currency available to be collected, repairs required to the rides, concessions requiring new stock, and assistance required from friends.
