This website is a functioning prototype which demonstrates a digital archival project I've been working on. The website uses real archive data to present how streets received their names in my city. The concept could potentially scale to be nation-wide with enough funding.
From the street names we could extrapolate more data including the type of name, its origin and (if the street is named after a person) what the occupation of that person was.

The goal of this platform is to display the etymology of streets with a simple click-through interaction. The data is curated from municipal archives to be as relevant and accurate as possible. Beyond simply telling a unique story, streetorigin.com also provides analytic data which displays further information about regional influences.
