DINING car - Car interior for a distinct lifestyle group- This project is of designing an interior of a car for a distinct lifestyle group. The distinct lifestyle that has been identified for this particular project, typically, is that of an average Indian family that owns and uses a car. People in this group who like to have good fun, food and the emotional interdependency among family and friends project certain attributes of this lifestyle. In the identified lifestyle group: Mostly a single car is used by one whole family. Cars are used a lot for long distance traveling carrying a family or friends together, where all the friends and family enjoy the journey just as much as the destination (sometimes even more) through chitchat, humor, jokes and interactive games. People are very fond of eating out at various popular eating joints and roadside "thelas" (vendors), where they park their car along the road and then eat the food within their car. Cars are also very frequently used for local outings or picnics. The idea of a family getting together and interacting over a dining table at home has been imported into the design. In the proposed design, six individuals can seat when configured into interaction mode with adjustable seating. People can talk, play cards or other table top games, see maps, read books, while traveling. Children can pack their bags on the way to schools or eat breakfast on the run. People can go to the roadside eating joints and use table for a comfortable eating activity and when taken to the picnic, with its suicide doors open, the car could be used as a hut facilitating a semi open space………
NUKE- The family bike and more - Slide 1 to Slide 7 - NUKE - A family bike - The project essentially is a reaction to a typical demand of transportation prevailing unaddressed in the Indian automobile industry. Most of the two wheeler designs selling in Indian market are basically imported from an alien context and do not acknowledge the demands of a typical middle class Indian consumer who essentially are the biggest buyers in the market for two wheelers . Two wheelers and related vehicles have a huge market in India where there is a large section of people who cannot afford to have four wheelers during the initial few years of the start of a family. At this point however, the togetherness and interdependency of the family is also very important- as it has always been in the Indian socio-cultural setup. In this situation a lot of small families (slide6 right hand side bottom corner) in the Indian urban landscape travel on the existing designs of two wheelers. This is both inconvenient and unsafe. The new design explores the potential of developing a two wheeler which will facilitate a comfortable seating for two adults and two minors. The vehicle is designed to carry this configuration of people for a period of five years during which both the need for the family being together and the economic restrains are there……… Slide 8 to Slide 9 - Sachet dispenser- Done as a second semester project, the idea was to design a mechanical dispenser that would ease the process of sachet handling and at the same time would act as a brand endorsement P.O.P display item for whichever company owns it………
Various - Slide10 to Slide 14 - Various car concept-sketches- All these different concepts for cars were done using the methodology of designing by drawing. These are all original concepts in the form of quick renderings. The process was of first observing the trends in car design in a particular section such as sports category, SUV or others and subsequently quickly producing a sketch in pencil. These sketches were then rendered in Photoshop……… Slide 15 to Slide 17 - Sunglasses for film actors and actresses- The design is all about identifying the persona of the film-stars and how they influence the world of fashion and style among the masses. The idea was of designing sunglasses which would be an acute style statement will correspond the persona of film-stars where they are looked upon as the trendsetters of the society. The sunglasses have a unique design in the way the side sticks are attached to the glasses and basically are a break from the conventional semantics of sunglass designs. …….. Slide 18 to Slide 19 - Future forms for sunglasses- This was a subjective exercise in projecting a future path of for development in sunglass designs. An idea that in the future because of the integration of miniaturized technology within the objects of utility, where one object will cater to more then one purpose, has been realized in the design. The integration of more systems will lead to a heavier form for sunglasses making room for placing various systems. The exercise basically explores the influence of functional demand on the aesthetical attribute of a produce……… Slide20 - A Mouse- This was an exercise in CAD to understand surface modeling. A value addition feature of placing a thumb thereby making the mouse more comfortable in its operation was however added as a designed feature………
