Viridian is part of a longitudinal study and bid to retrofit Montreal's subway systems with energy-efficient grass 'tiling'. Because of its low profile and even lower maintenance, Viridian could be implemented on any surface and scaled at will. This addresses existing problems: Rider health and wellbeing, upgrading existing poor ventilation (especially in temperature extremes of summer/winter), and rising energy costs. Were Viridian used throughout the entire metro system, it would provide a self-regulating ecosystem in less than two years.

Initial implementation costs would be recouped through energy savings and new jobs.
Aesthetic Intervention through such simple, practical means.
Substrate scaling allows for Viridian to replace or compliment existing structures.
