DUSA - JAPANESE RESIDENTIAL GARDEN
Working six months at Design Focus I was given the opportunity to be the lead designer for a residential landscape project. During the initial design meeting the client and I connected with our love for Japanese gardens and they wanted me to convey my past gained experiences during my study abroad program in Kyoto, Japan to the design of their Japanese garden. Inspired by my visit to Ryoan-ji I wanted the garden design to incorporate the vast, ocean like feeling of gravel with intersected small green islands of plants and statue like rock arrangements. Overlooking the gravel garden I provided two areas for the client and their family to lounge and/or dine on Azek and Trex composite wood deck, bench, and arbor systems.
