London Riots - Police Communications Unit
This project stemmed from research about the London Riots which occured in August 2011.
I found that due to advances in technology such as "Blackberry Messenger" the police were outmanouvered by the rioters and it took just over a week for all rioting and looting to cease. These advances need to be utilised by the police in a way to take back control of riotous situations, and at the moment the police struggle to monitor this technology.
Gaining evidence to convict criminals in this ordeal was not easy. Going through hours of CCTV footage from cameras all over the city was very time consuming and the images that they managed to gain were sometimes so blurry they were of little help.
My product has been designed to tackle the problems mentioned above. These are shown in detail in the following pages.
