The kettle is a staple domestic appliance making it one of the biggest energy eaters around the home. The main issue that i had come across was the issue of overfilling the appliance, this resulted in massive energy loss costing the UK population a whopping £68 Million in unnecessary energy bills yearly. The solution was to boil the water in a set measurement where it would be physically impossible to overfill. Investigations were done into using induction technology as this has been regarded to be the cleaner, safer and more efficient way of heating. The outcome of merging induction technology with the boiling issue resulted in my product known as the Energy Pad. It features a fully aluminium body for sleek aesthetics and easy cleaning, and a glass top for a similar purpose. This product was not intended to be a product to tackle energy consumption yet the design process has evolved into just that.
