Alzheimer's Home & Town Center
Challenge: To design a building including two greenhouse style Alzheimer’s households along with a town center including various activities for the residents and public to do. The design was to include: evidence based design, design theories, universal design, sustainability, and be ADA compliant.
Solution: I chose the concept of a cup of tea because I wanted the space to feel like a home for the residents. In this design I encouraged independence and control for the residents, including opportunities for them to live their day to day life more freely. The theories I included were, prospect and refuge, color theory, and place attachment.
