Brief: Design a range of shelf lighting system for office, library and home use. Strategic design choice: Choice of different attachment system, with several shelf wood plank thickness in order to maximise versatility and minimise the impact of fixation systems on the designs. Xiaomi - shelf lighting system model 1 (800mm) This 800mm long shelf lighting is made of extruded aluminium and is equipped with a sensor for automatic on/off and energy-saving feature, but also comes with another sensor, for continuous automatic light intensity adjustment, to always benefit from the same lighting conditions at different times of the day. Its magnetic locking system prevents it from sliding and falling. Therefore, it is easy to install and does not allow for any dust to build up between the wood shelf and the product. The overall look is also slicker, as there are no visible fixing part or gap. Its angled led system prevents all glaring effect, for maximum comfort of use. Step 1: detach the removable metal part from the product. Step 2: fix the metal part with screws or strong 3M stickers under the shelf. Step 3: position the product on the bar, magnets securing the product in place.

Rotating knob version The first type of controls is with touch buttons on the side + a touch-sliding area + a rotating knob. The rotating knob has 2 functions: a click switch mode (press on the knob) and rotating the knob to adjust either brightness or colour temperature. The intensity is controlled by the touch-sensitive surface. For the buttons on the side of the product, they are from left to right: on/off, 40 minutes timer, automatic light sensor modes. Rotating touch sensitive version The second type of controls is with touch-sensitive buttons on a glass panel, with a touch-sliding area. The controls from left to right are: on/off, person detection sensor, automatic light intensity modes, 40 minutes timer and a sliding area to adjust light intensity or colour temperature.

Xiaomi - shelf lighting system model 2 (800mm) This version differs from model 1 in 2 ways: its fixation system and its degrees of liberty. The product ships with clamps matching different thicknesses of wood shelves. Users only need to select the right clamp and force it on the shelf, then attach the product. This system avoids the use of inelegant locking system. The product can be adjusted in different angles, with 2 rotation axis. Different clamps are provided, to match the thickness of the wood shelves, without any inelegant adjustment system. step 2: fix the metal part with screws or strong 3M stickers under the shelf. step 3: position the product on the bar, magnets securing the product.

Xiaomi - shelf lighting system model 3 (800mm) This version differs from the models 1 and 2 as it is made to be installed on a vertical open space separator. It offers only one degree of liberty, to adjust the angle of the product. Detail of the fixation system, this time with a screw, as there are too many different thicknesses of vertical panels to offer several clamps. Plus, the screw head could be used to attach a decorative object under the product. Detail of the fixation system for cable management.

Xiaomi - shelf lighting system model 4 (800mm) This version differs from model 3, has it has a vertical arm, so it can be installed on a desk, either on a short vertical support, or directly on the desk surface. Xiaomi - shelf lighting system different sizes and solutions The range is available in the following sizes: 800mm, 600mm and 400mm versions. They are available with the following controls: soft touch buttons + rotating knob, touch-sensitive buttons + sliding area. All the models are available in no following versions: magnetic no gap system, fixed horizontal clamp system, horizontal clamp system with 2 degree angle of liberty, vertical clamp system with screw, vertical clamp system with screw and one arm, vertical clamp system with screw and two arms.
