Brief:
Design of a desk light for Philips to replace the previous A7 model, targeted for office work, executives and engineers.

Strategic design choice:
Creation of a dynamic lighting system, to provide different areas and sizes of lighting areas with the same product. Adjonction of a smart essential oil diffusor (controlled by an app), in order to create on each desk a personal and stress-free environment, matching its user’s taste.

Philips - A7 desk light This design is a perfect balance between vertical and horizontal lines and soft curves, giving it both serious and gentle look. It is made to help you work in peace and elegance, either at home, in an open space or in an office. The head is articulated with rotations along the X, Y and Z axis, for maximum versatility. The top arm can be inclined and the base arm can be rotated as well.
Philips - A7 desk light The head sides are inclined to offer a very wide area of light. The back of the top arm is equipped with a dual feature: a nightlight and an essential oil diffusor, for aromatherapy. A smartphone app is used to control different relaxation modes and remember user settings. The essential oil tank is removable and can be cleaned in a dish washer. The app can also be used to control the nightlight function and the main light function (in addition to the physical UI located on the base).
Philips - A7 desk light The desk light uses OLED electronic control technology in order to adjust different lighting area sizes, different temperature colours and dimming. It is also equipped with a movement tracking sensor, so the user can use motions to adjust the dimmer or the temperature colour.
