Brief: Design of a range of “Hi-Fi” iPod docking stations, for Jensen, with external amplifier, and wood speakers. The 2 products were released, after a new version of iPod was released by Apple. Strategic design choice: Create products that are true extensions of each new iPod (but remaining in Jensen’s current positioning). My involvement in this project: • lead designer • market analysis • trend analysis • product general architecture • internal component placement • tech integration • industrial design (sketching, CAD, CMF) • 3D rendering • follow-up with engineers and factories
Jensen - “Hi-Fi” iPod docking station This small Hi-Fi docking station was designed to match the iPod being sold at that time, black flat surface and round corners. The front chrome ring is there also to remind the side and back of the iPod. It features wood speakers and an external transformer to keep the product from being too bulky.
Jensen - “Hi-Fi” iPod docking station This vertical lifestyle Hi-Fi docking station design is all in inclined planes, parallel to the iPod, to draw attention on it. The product has been designed with office use in mind, because of its compact size. It can be used easily inside a shelf as well.
