Brief: Design a new system to help parents prepare baby milk more easily and more reliably. The system should help parents to always deliver the same amount of milk powder, so the digestion of babies can be optimal. The product must not use any electronics and must be dishwasher proof. Strategic design choice: Instead of reinventing the wheel, the choice was made to survey all existing systems to deliver liquids, powders and medicine. An evaluation of efficiency was made, plus some research in ergonomics was conducted. My involvement in this project: • design team leader & lead designer • project / ressources management / client interface • market analysis & trend analysis • user needs and parents’ issues to deliver formula • ergonomic study • mechanical structure to distribute powder without electronic components • product general architecture • industrial design (sketching, CAD, CMF) • 3D rendering
Abbott Nutrition - Milk formula dispenser A A sturdier and more premium dispenser, with an all-aluminium top lid, a full handle and a more square shaped rotating knob. The bottom is hollowed and have a rubber finish, so it does not easily slip on the countertop. The internal mechanism is only using a shaft and a set of gears to rotate around and inside the can. The Rotating cylinder and its blade break the agglomerated powder into small “rocks”, gravity makes them fall. The bladed sphere breaks the rocks into powder and let the fluid powder fall, delivered in 54 g increments.
Abbott Nutrition - Milk formula dispenser B A rounder and simpler dispenser, with a plastic top lid and a basic handle, but with rounder handling. The bottom is hollowed and have a rubber finish, so it does not easily slip on the countertop. Below is the internal system used to break and distribute the powder.
