This is what we were given from Honda, a brand new 2011 CBR125-R we were told that this bike was the entry level market, targeting new riders.
I had doubts weather using a sport-bike frame was the best way to lure young people onto two wheels. The aggressive styling is based on a sport bike, almost an exact replica of the much faster CBR 600. I thought the design needed to be more honest and focus around ergonomics first and foremost, the riding position of the CBR-125R wasn't suited for comfort.
Given that the brief was to capture the largest market segment possible, I believed that the bike's proportions needed to cater for the masses the 90th percentile of the target market (16-21 years old). The Triumph Bonneville is renowned for its comfortable seat position and riding style.

Honda 125 Concept for Generation Z

This project was undertaken in conjunction with Honda R&D Europe (Italia) S.r.l. and Massey University's senior Industrial and Transport Design students. The purpose of the joint venture was to create an entirely new entry level motorcycle that would entice the next generation of riders on to Honda bikes. My concept appeals to the discerning visual language of the new generation. High quality fit and finish of materials, minimalistic functionality and user friendly approachable aesthetic.
