This project focuses on the life cycle (LCA) for the Coby MP3 player. Various LCA tools are utilised, including the streamlined LCA, Eco-Audit, and the LCA Calculator, to highlight the critical issues for development in this product. The methods have been investigated in relation to the product, and its sustainability and reliability are also considered. The product life cycle is looked in detail, this includes raw materials extraction, materials processing, manufacture, distribution, use and disposal. The human need for the product, has also been explored (Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Needs). Improvements have been suggested and the final idea is a mechanical device which has more than one function, (and also injects some fun into the design of an MP3 player).
