A carrier is a reusable polycarbonate container that holds and protects small medical items sent through a pneumatic tube system (PTS). The NexSeal pneumatic tube carrier represents a significant technical advance in the field of leak-resistant carriers. Used by hospitals as a layer-of-protection against the spread of pathogens, leak-resistant carriers built with conventional technology rely on complex latching mechanisms to seal biohazards inside the carrier. The complex latching systems are difficult for staff to use, can be a source of ergonomic concerns, require maintenance, and can slow down processing in high-volume environments such as laboratories and pharmacies.
