Designed for DIN Design IN exhibition at Salone del Mobile 2018
The Workhorse was conceived as an attempt to make the everyday office space less mundane and more alive. By combining the linear surface of a desk with the soft, warm curves of equestrian legs, the Workhorse was intended to join work with play, office with countryside; to bring the outside in. Rather than being tied to a desk, the user is inspired with the freedom of riding with their thoughts.
The Workhorse was made in Italy, with superior craftsmanship. It has near perfect horse proportions, and rich solid walnut hand picked and book-matched. The legs were carved for 15 day and nights non stop, in a 5 Axis CNC machine, and the three-color-gradient paint job, took two and a half weeks process. With metal reinforcement in the construction of the desk- it is as strong as a horse. Custom made chromed horseshoe were fitted for additional detail and preserve the wood from wear against the floor surface.
