Material innovation has been a hot topic over the past 12 months. A concept that caught my attention was the creation of artificial muscles.
The idea in short, is basically to take thin nylon cables, coil them, and then weave the coiled cables together to create an artificial muscle strand. The stimulator to these artificial muscles is heat. For example when heated, the artificial muscle strand contracts, and when it cools it returns to its resting tension.
Inspired by this concept, I sought to investigate how it could be introduced into an athletic context, and what purpose can it bring to revolutionize that context.
