Consumer Product Redesign - Can Opener
Client: QUT
Year: 2012
This was a 3rd year group project for Industrial Design in which the aim was to generate a redesign of a current consumer product. Throughout this process, we had to analyse the current product from a design perspective and understand its market placement and users. From this, we were able to generate a core understanding of the materials and manufacturing processes used to produce the product and redesign the product so that it was more user-friendly, functional, cost effective and appealing to the user market.
Part of my responsibility during this project was to also generate the 3D models on Solidworks. It was a learning experience as I had to study the mechanism of a can opener and translate it into a moving model on the computer.
