HOW cards
The Curious Gastronaut was invited to the Growing With Design Conference at HDK, Gothenburg. Through this collaborative game, we were going to experience lunchtime as an adventure by experimenting with food and imagining creative ways of eating to both try new food, and to take a fresh look at some familiar ones. The aim was for everyone to play together to discover something new by inventing recipes, trying strange combinations, embracing curiosities and getting to know each other just a little bit better. Everyone was asked to come with an open mind and an empty stomach. On entering, all the participants were asked to sit next to someone they didn't know. They were all then instructed to pick up 10 cards in total and using 5 cards each create an appetizer, and a main dish for the person sitting on their left. They were to create and design a meal for a stranger using the cards they got and the ingredients available!
There were interesting discoveries: "radish, ketchup and olives go well together", "Dill works well when mixed with pear cider but not rosemary", "Popcorn goes with everything!"

The Curious Gatronaut + Food Workshop

A Curious Gastonaut is incredibly curious, curious about everything - most of all food. He is as curious about exploring the food world as an astronaut is, about exploring outer space. Mealtimes are a gatronaut’s favorite time of the day and he sees every meal as a new adventure.

The Curious Gastronaut is a collaborative game that creates excitement around mealtimes and encourages everyone to explore the marvelous world of food. It serves as a creative tool that facilitates exploration and learning through play, which can thereafter be incorporated into everyday life. WELCOME ABOARD!

1. Pick up 5 'WHAT' cards. Each WHAT card contains a description such as "something long like worms", "something that floats" etc. Use the 5 WHAT cards to come up with ingredients to create a meal.

2. Pick up a HOW card. This card will give simple but fun instructions on how to prepare the meal or how to eat the meal. This step adds play to the table.
