Cute Little Ugly Things
A range of 10 unconventional toys
for kids that are sick of cute, to:
1. Experiment with the nature of such toys physically and imaginatively.
2. To explore the difference in perceptions
among children and adults about the notions of cute/not cute/ugly etc. These toys were made with the purpose of experimenting,
and not for selling.
Typically, stuffed toys have soft fur and ‘sweet faces’. On the contrary, many early stuffed animals were actual animal skins much like taxidermy. This was fascinating to me. I have experimented with unusual shapes, forms, material, weight and with the experiential aspect of the toys.
