Annual Update Greeting Card January 2005 - Wow, it amazes me how much more accurate imagery as a means of communication can be to reveal the state of my inner being than what I’ve tried to communicate verbally. This year has been hard, lonely, disappointing, challenging, stretching, and so many times I feel myself reaching for help and learning the multitude of avenues that I still have so much to learn. This is an image of humility and extreme artistic success for me, because it has completely captured my inner reality.
Annual Update Greeting Card - January 2004 - Because of all the hype around the New Year, I take time to investigate my life inwardly. Through intimate conversations, the aura of the holidays, and the need to say "thank you", I felt that I wanted to share these thoughts with those I love. Thus, I put together this annual greeting card project entitled "All I'm Sayin' is...." I'm currently preparing the January 2005 edition, which will be the third card in what I hope will be a continuing series. These greeting cards are all hand made. Recipients number around 100 and the number is growing. Pink reflects not only the current color trend, but also the willingness of my personality to be risky, different, and emotionally aware...a quality all too rare among my male contemporaries. This project has been and continues to be my favorite.
Wedding Annoucement, Save the Date - Matt & Marina are good friends of mine who wanted to see if I could capture their personalities and excitement through this announcement. Despite our friendships, this was a great exercise in self-discipline to approach them with cost projections, manufacturing options, graphic design iterations, and most importantly...deadlines. It was also nice to be involved from the first brainstorming all the way through the printing, manufacturing, & delivery. If I had it to do again, I would have pushed a tradition format length width ratio to avoid the additional postage that was incurred. I also would have used fewer spray adhesive processes and even outsourced the printing and manufacturing process.
