Pintxoplate starts with a pilot collaboration project "Basquecrafts" between craftsman and designers. The aim was to co-create new products between designer and a craftsman.
In collaboration between MID estudio, Bernat Vidal stone craftsman, and Muka, we develop this product. The brief was drafted by Bernat, He wanted to manufacture a new object for serving pintxos (or tapas) made in slate, but with a fresh look and innovative way.
We opted to create an different hexagonal plates because this shape is one of the best shapes that takes advantage of the space. We also opted for use two types of surface, a dimpled surface to extol the pintxos and another flat surface with two utilities. The first one was to write the title of the tapa and the other one to grab the plate while we taste the pintxos. The different sections of this handle shapes helps to create different compositions and drawings in a bar.
There are also a different sizes and all the plates are handcrafted by Bernat.
