PINAS: The Basura Buster Mascot Design
The purpose of this mascot concept is to represent the department's messages on solid waste management. A baby turtle has been used to exemplify the impact of having clean surroundings on the youth and the future generations, along with the hundreds of thousands of sea turtles and other marine life that die each year from ocean pollution and ingestion or entanglement in marine debris - most are manmade waste that is directly or indirectly disposed of and reaches the seas via rivers, and 80% originates from landfills and other urban sources. The colors GREEN, YELLOW, RED, and BLUE on its shell represent waste segregation, and the recycling symbols serves as prompt to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
