A Master Plan for an Urban Street: The UW-M School of Freshwater Sciences is emerging as one of the region’s premier freshwater research facilities. Currently located in an industrial warehouse on a blighted street, a new vision for facility and Greenfield Ave was needed. Working with campus staff and City of Milwaukee representatives, I developed a master plan for the street that creates a harbor campus to showcase the new world-class facility. The master plan includes a harbor-side park, a bike path connection to the city-wide system and several integrated stormwater management features. In addition to the master plan I was responsible for the site planning and landscape design for the new building addition. The site design includes multiple stormwater infiltration basins – connecting the research inside the facility to the landscape function outside.
My responsibilities included: • Working with City of Milwaukee and UW-Milwaukee staff in developing a greater vision for Greenfield Ave. • Providing site planning and landscape design direction with a multidisciplinary team. • Preparing city submittal drawings, bid drawings and specifications and construction drawings for the site design.
