A Challenged Urban Park Revitalized: Located along Madison’s storied State Street, this urban space was the number one police call location during the early 2000’s due to disruptive behavior from park users. The park has been renovated and has become a welcoming space for all to enjoy. I was the project manager and design landscape architect and had the privilege of working with City of Madison staff, local business owners and neighborhood representatives in making the park renovation a success.
My Responsibilities included: • Managing the multi-discipline team and overseeing the design development of a new visitor center building and its adjacent urban park. • Using information gathered from the owner and project stakeholders, preparing a design development schedule that addressed an intensive public input process and a challenging city committee review process. • Preparing agendas and holding meetings with the project stake holders, the design team, and city staff. • Coordinating an overall project budget and providing cost updates for requested changes. • Setting milestone submittal deadlines, holding quality control review sessions, and assembling the final bid documents and coordinated the State of Wisconsin building review submittal. • Organizing and holding the preconstruction meeting, chairing the bi-weekly construction meetings, routing RFI’s and product and material submittals, confirming the final punch-list items were completed.
