Giselle
Costume design for classical romantic ballet Giselle.
Giselle is a two act ballet created by Théophile Gautier and Jules-Henri Vernoy with music by Adolphe Adam. It was performed for the first time in the Opéra de Paris in 1841.
This interpretation was created following the aesthetic concept of Spanish dance company Metros, known for their translation of classical plays into contemporary dance.
Act 1 is inspired by the English countryside, Liberty print fabrics and lingerie shapes from 1950.
Act 2 is inspired by winter misty landscapes, vintage wedding dresses and transparent silky fabrics.
