The surface is achieved by stitching on a fabric following grids, using bobbin elastic. Varying elasticity of the bobbin elastic gives different textures to the fabrics.
here, black bobbin elastic is used to give an accent to the surface.
The puckering technique was also tried out on a printed fabric.
Inserting a quilting foam between two layers before stitching gave this texture.

Puckered Surfaces
This project was done as an internship with Nir Home Studio, Pune, India. The brief was to explore and produce surfaces, further to be used for bed covers and co-ordinated cushions.
