ProSpec
ProSpec is a modern speculum design for modern gynecology. Designed with patient emotion in mind, ProSpec means women can anticipate a better Pap Smear Exam experience.
Since 1845 the speculum has seen little change. The exam is a vital one, screening for cervical cancer, yet many women are avoiding it. This undergraduate thesis explores the emotional experience from the patient side as well as doctor tradition and needs. Over 200 women contributed through surveys and interviews, leading to the design of ProSpec.
