When we took on the restoration of this theatre we were operating on a shoe string budget. We had stage decks that were donated from another company that we needed to make work for our purposes. This simple comparison plan was drafted with Autodesk CAD (AutoCAD '10), for my crew and collaborators in order to illustrate two options for the stage extension so that we could discuss which would look best in the space.

Once we decided to move forward with the curved front extension, I drafted up this plan so that we would know the precise lengths and angles needed for each support joist.

This photo shows a portion of the curved extension in progress, before being capped off with plywood.
Shown here is the measurements list which aided us in cutting all the pieces for the support joists, as lining out the curve we needed to cut into the plywood.

Here we see one of the curves complete with plywood.
Another aspect of our stage renovation was to construct three decks at the perimeter of the stage. To the left and right would be decks sitting 10' off the ground (7' above the main stage) filling the space from the main stage edge to the walls and running the full depth of the original stage. Along the back would be deck 9' off the main stage. Pictured here, is a rough preliminary design for one of the side decks.

I also drafted a floor plan of existing conditions in the lobby. The renovations of the lobby were not the responsibility of my group, but since I had the CAD skills I offered to do it as a favor to the owner. This allowed her to save money since he Architect wouldn't have to do it.

As a member of the Baltimore Rock Opera Society, I have been instrumental in restoring an old theater space in Baltimore, MD. Using my knowledge of CAD and Design I took the lead to design and construct a stage extension with a curved front.

Also featured in this project folder is, a construction drawing for an elevated stage wing, and an existing floor plan for the lobby, which I drafted as a favor to the owner in order to save on the Architects fees.
