New Age Mosque
Caltex Mosque, West Wharf, Karachi
A contemplative and non-traditional design for a mosque.Conceptual: A station in space or a space station to offer prayers and meditate. The wedge entry transforms into a prism shape representing a minaret. In the interior, of the prayer hall, slanted light wells also serve as bookshelves for religious books. The dome is translucent fiberglass that creates a sublime lighting condition during daylight. The front elevation: Perhaps a modern version of the Bedouin tent.
