A contemplative and non-traditional design for a mosque.Conceptual: A station in space or a space station to offer prayers and meditate.The wedge entry transforms into a prism shape representing a minaret.In the interior, of the prayer hall, slanted light wells also serve as bookshelves for religious books.The dome is translucent fiberglass that creates a sublime lighting condition during daylight.The front elevation: Perhaps a modern version of the Bedouin tent.
This project has been featured in “New Sacred Architecture” by Phyllis Richardson, UK, 2004 and archived with the Aga Khan Foundation for Islamic Art and Architecture.
